Meet the Risk Analysis Team

The Risk Analysis Services Team comprises of veterinary surgeons, agriculturalists and environmentalists with years of experience working with governmental and non-governmental organizations. The teams’ areas of speciality include animal health and veterinary sciences; livestock and crop production systems; food security and livelihoods support; veterinary epidemiology and animal health economics; veterinary public health; one health approach; nutrition-sensitive agriculture; agricultural value chains; livelihoods and livestock-related research design and implementation and community resilience and disaster management. The team is also well skilled in the development, management and evaluation of animal health, veterinary public health, food security and livelihoods related programs/projects.

Dr. Daniel Kimani Karugu

Veterinary Professional


Qualifications: Degree of Master of Science in Veterinary Epidemiology of University of London and Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine of University of Nairobi.

He is a long-standing public servant with over 30 years’ experience. For 16 years he served as a field veterinary officer in Tana River and Nyeri districts with duties ranging from animal disease control, vector control, veterinary clinical service, extension services and veterinary public health. His role in designing, implementing and supervising a mass vaccination project for 13 districts of Central and Eastern provinces earned him a Certificate of Fellowship from the Kenya Veterinary Association, the professional body of veterinarians

Faith Adongo Owuor

Agricultural and livestock systems professional


Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Agriculture and a Masters’ degree in Veterinary Epidemiology and Public Health mainly focused on Veterinary Public Health, developing and monitoring livestock production systems and economics for livestock development and policy.

Faith has speciality in livestock/crop production systems, livelihoods and resilience, food security, nutrition sensitive agriculture, agricultural value chains and economics for livestock development and policy with over eight years of experience in a variety of roles in humanitarian and development work in Kenya and South Sudan with non-governmental organizations.

Dr. Diana Onyango

Veterinary surgeon and animal health professional


Qualifications: Master’s degree in Veterinary Epidemiology and Public Health.

Dr. Diana Onyango is registered veterinary surgeon with over twelve years’ experience in different veterinary centred sectors including private veterinary practice, veterinary pharmaceutical sales and working with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in supporting provision of animal health service delivery in the arid and semi-arid lands of Kenya. Dr. Onyango is also a holder of a Master’s degree in Veterinary Epidemiology and Public Health.

Dr. Onyango is well trained and versed with project management, proposal development and reporting needs for different donors including Food and Agriculture Organization, ECHO and UN Office of Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance (OCHA).
